Thomson Learning Announces New Name - CENGAGE Learning

New name reflects the company's commitment to enhancing teaching, learning and research.

Stamford, CT 07/24/2007
Thomson Learning, one of the world's largest providers of print and digital information services for the educational and library reference markets, announced today that it will change its name to Cengage Learning. The company, recently acquired by Apax Partners and OMERS Capital Partners, says the new name is based on being at the "center of engagement" for its customers worldwide.

"Increasingly, our customers recognize that their success depends on being constructively engaged with others involved in teaching, learning and research," said Ronald Dunn, chief executive officer, Thomson Learning. "The name Cengage Learning reflects our commitment to promoting engagement and improving results for all of our customers."

Extensive market research shows that the name Cengage Learning both reinforces Thomson Learning's traditions as a research and educational publisher and conveys its commitment to innovate in order to meet customers' needs for new forms of products and services in the future. In addition to the corporate name Cengage Learning, the company will continue to emphasize its widely known and respected company and imprint brands including Heinle, Gale, Wadsworth, Delmar Learning, Brooks/Cole and South-Western, among others.

The company will introduce the Cengage Learning identity throughout the business beginning on August 31, 2007 and in the meantime, will continue to operate under the Thomson Learning name.
